Volunteer

Lakota has many forums through which parents and community members can get involved and contribute to their local schools.

Share Your Time, Voice & Expertise

From parent and business advisory groups to school and classroom volunteers, there is a place for everyone who is willing to share their time, voice or expertise with Lakota.

Background Checks & Fingerprinting

Any volunteer with unsupervised access to students will be required to pass a criminal background check using a government issued ID. The cost of the background check is $18 and will be valid for three (3) years. Per board policy, this procedure is to be conducted at the volunteer's expense.

Volunteers should click on the button below to access the Raptor website and initiate their background check. Volunteers will receive an email from Raptor Tech once the application has been approved. Applications may take up to 72 hours to be processed.

Approved volunteers will receive an email 30 days prior to the expiration date to remind them to renew their background check.

If your volunteer status was approved through a BCI/FBI background check between July 1, 2017 - July 1, 2018, you have been automatically approved in the Raptor system. All volunteer coaches must still apply for a BCI/FBI background check through Lakota’s Human Resources Department.

Visit the Safety & Security webpage for additional information about Lakota's policies and procedures for visitors and volunteers.

Barb Bossu Volunteer Spirit Awards

Every year, the District Parent Council (DPC) helps Lakota honor its most dedicated volunteers as recipients of the esteemed Barb Bossu Volunteer Spirit Award. Honoring a volunteer at the district level and from each of Lakota’s schools, the award commemorates a former parent volunteer and Union Elementary PTA president, Barb Bossu.
