Early Entrance to Kindergarten or First Grade: Registration for 2024-25 closes June 14

Gifted Services is accepting applications for Early Entrance into Kindergarten and 1st grade for the 2024-25 school year until Friday, June 14. Any applications received after this date will not be considered before the start off the school year. If you are moving into the district, please contact us at giftedservices@lakotaonline.com. 

In rare instances young children are already reading, counting, and categorizing, are developmentally advanced in thinking skills, language acquisition, and quantitative reasoning, and may be ready for early entrance into kindergarten or first grade. 

A parent may request early admission to kindergarten if the child turns five after the district’s deadline for kindergarten entrance. Therefore, any student turning five on or after Aug. 2 AND on or before Dec. 31 is eligible for the assessment process.
